Unhappy Interior a/c fan motor - Blobeye 2005

My fan motor has gradually packed up. A new one is £489 + vat. Does anyone know if a fan motor from later models will fit in my housing ?

The same RHD motor assembly has been used on all (MY01-07) Newage models

Part number: 72223FE000

Available from Japan for about £300 vat and postage paid
https://www.amayama.com/en/part/subaru/72223fe000
or try a Subaru Breakers......

Are you sure its not the Resistor Assembly 72226FE000 (manual A/C controls) or Power resistor 73533FE000 (automatic A/C)
that controls the speed?

Depending upon which version is fitted it could be a lot cheaper.

Thanks Don, very helpful. I'll check the real issue before buying. The fan motor was going slow and making a ticking sound before finally stopping. I wonder if anyone has tried replacing the motor carbon brushes? I've done this on my power shower motors.
