Can someone please tell mw what this sensor is just behind and to the left of the alternator?

It's disconnected and I'm not getting an error on my OBDC.

I only have the factory maintenance manual. I was looking for a Haynes or Chiltons repair manual.

 

Am curious, which factory manual?

 

Front page says:

Then there's a table of contents. Then this:

That would be the North American manual for US and Canadian Models and in PDF format multiple document/s.
So no 1.6L Engine info and only LHD and where many internal wiring systems are controlled by the Body Integrated Unit which is not fitted to UK cars of this vintage (MY08 on only)

From MY2006 all General & European manuals are supplied on CD in HTML (interactive) format with some PDF diagram (wiring etc)
