Default Aftermarket KYB widetrack struts

Just a thought - it might be nice if these were available here?

Maybe it needs more than just me asking?

If you get a chance, would you email KYB and ask this:

enquiries@kyb-europe.com

Why don't you sell these Subaru Impreza widetrack struts in the UK&NI?

They're £440 a set in the US:

5510035

As someone looking to refresh their Spec C suspension, I will be emailing kyb Europe.
£%^& me what a nightmare minefield widetrack suspension is! I've spent days trawling Scoobynet and others trying to understand it all.
2pot, thankyou for the codes. I'd like to keep my Spec C close to standard so I've been looking at Shockwarehouse.com (US site) who sell KYB and they do sell a £420 kit but that's for the excel-g shocks which I dont think are widetrack. The gas-a-just widetrack shocks you've pictured and given the codes for are $832/set (£670 roughly) unless I'm missing something (very possible)
Cheers.

In the US, they are currently £456. Delivery and import duties would be an additional £180

Thankyou! That seems far more reasonable. Can I ask if you know these shocks and would recommend them for a spec C? It seems it's either these or coil overs and rightly or wrongly I'm nervous about fitting coilovers to a road car. Tia.

full set will cost approx 1k
if coilovers than for road car meisterR gt1 are best option for widetrack sti ,other but expensive will be ohlins road&track ( no idea why for widetrack ohlins costs over 4k)
would like to try silvers neomax 2 way
meisterR usually drop gt1's price on Black Friday by 20% ,last year it was only 10%

They are for the widetrack sti and the spec c version (both 217-223lb/in, 171-191lb/in springs).
The s203,s204 and ra-r are different struts and stiffer springs (343lb/in, 285lb/in, the same spring rates as the Meister r gt1's).

This car has the US imported KYB inverted struts and a set of my Eibach-made, WA/A2+A3, 246lb/in, 224lb/in springs and bump stops, with 20mm oem front/22mm adjustable rear bars. I wouldn't go stiffer than this on undulating/uneven roads:

Tein also do the Enduropro Plus kit (non-inverted adjustable) for the widetrack sti - VSS66-B1DS2
I'm not sure why they've done the sti bump stop set-up, they way they have, especially at the rear.

If using my sti-rate springs, my bump stops and oem dust boots, you could use:

Enduropro Plus widetrack STI fronts:
VSS66-B1MS2-R
VSS66-B1MS2-L
With Enduropro Plus WRX rears:
VSS55-B1MS2-L
VSS55-B1MS2-R

The Tein wrx rears, I've seen, have the same rod diameter all the way up?:

I was literally adding the KYBs to my shopping basket when you gave me the Tein option! I think I want to go as close to oem as possible which means the KYBs. I take it that it's just the struts I need to order from the US? Can I get the springs and bumpstops you mention sourced in the UK?
Thanks again for the help.

The front dust boots, for inverted struts, are getting awkward to find. You can re-use yours or locate 2x 20322AC000 (not to be confused with 20322AA000). The rest is easily available in the UK.

Hi 2pot,

I've got a bit of an issue with my 2005 widetrack now and was wondering if you could help me find the best solution.

Been to the dealer today to get my front top mounts changed, they've come back saying the LH Rear strut is leaking and the spring is cracked, they've quoted £750 for a replacement spring and damper including fitting.

The problem is that I've got sr ultra rears fitted (can't remember the code - furiously looking through my car file now) and prodrive rb320 springs on, so just changing one side isn't an option.

What do you recommend as the best option for rear struts and spring combo, bearing in mind my front struts are bilstein rb320 struts and springs.

Any help or recommendations would be massively appreciated.

Apologies for hijacking the thread.

Cheers,

Chris.

Thanks for the reply, I'm hoping there will be a better, cheaper option than spending £750 at the dealer for one side!

The rear KYB ultra sr inverted struts are:
321004
321005
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/161181086...Bk9SR4a3orqpZA

A full set of WA/A2+A3 springs £325.

WA/A2+A3 on Ultra SR inverted:
Brilliant, thanks for that 2pot!

Just out of interest would you recommend the ultra SR over the Tein rears VSS55-B1MS2-L & VSS55-B1MS2-R that you mentioned in an earlier post?

The ultra SR fitted have only done About 15000 miles so a bit annoyed they have failed so quickly, although they are about 8 years old!

Typically I was just sorting a few minor issues prior to putting it up for sale and this has cropped up despite being in for a service a couple of months ago and nothing mentioned at the time!

Thank you again for the quick response.

You could use the non-inverted adjustable Tein rears.

Inverted rears usually get noisy - knocking. Due to their arc of operation, wearing the upper internal bearings on one side.

If you're selling it, maybe the buyer would expect inverted struts though?

HI 2pot! Good point, thank you for the advice.

Unfortunately the dealer have changed their initial statement and said the struts are corroded at the bottom and the spring may have a crack... I'll have to do some investigation and see what the issue is prior to buying everything as it seemed to drive absolutely fine today.

If I need springs is it best to PM you directly?

Cheers,

Chris.

PM is fine.

KYB's aftermarket struts do have poorer quality paint, compared to the one's KYB made for Subaru.

I think I'd want a definitive answer, as to whether the spring has a crack in it!
