Default 6 speed transfer gears bugeye 4.11 r180

Hi All,

I am just about to convert my bugeye sti to rwd for hopefully some reliable fun (standard power, full poly bushed and group n rear end bushes, subframe lockout, suretrac diff is still tight spins both wheels doing awd hellies).

It got me thinking after some research.

The bugeye sti has 1:1 31/31 teeth transfer gears and a 3.9 r180.

Later models 04-05 have a 1.1:1 30/33 teeth transfer gears and 3.54 r180 to make a 3.9 Final drive.

could i use the later model transfer gears with my existing 3.9 diff to achieve a 4.11 final drive?

The part number 33113aa370 and 33128aa320 appear to be able to work with the output of the centre diff in the sense that 33113aa370 has the teeth on the external part of the gear spline that inserts into the back of the centre diff(now a rwd spool) compared to the existing 1:1 31 33113aa230 and 33128aa150 tooth gear.

It wouldn't be cheap but just curious if anyone has ever thought about or actually done this. A curious hypothetical. Easier than dismantling a diff and reshimming etc

I have attached photos for reference.

Cheers,

Michael
