Default Best Guess on noise when turning (classic)?

I have a graunching noise (rub/grind) from the front left when steering right with some lock at low speed (e.g. Small roundabouts at 20mph).

It doesn't happen in any other circumstances so could it be something other than wheel bearing related?

I remember a few years ago the garage said they had cleaned up corrosion on the tone ring which is built into the Cv on the 99/00my. I've never had any brake warning lights but could this be the noise ?

I see ICP are now doing combined cv/hub/knuckle/bearing/brake backing plate units which seem a good idea.

Backing plate then check for play in the wheel bearing.

Yes, had backing plates removed when had new discs a few years back, so I'm thinking original wheel bearing.

Has your brake pedal gone a bit soft after driving for a while without touching it?

Not that I've noticed. I found the service receipt from 5 years ago and it said 'cleaned up corrosion on abs ring' The fact it doesn't happen when braking, but does when turning makes it more wheel bearing I think.

What usually happens after driving with a bad wheel bearing the disc pushes the pistons in due to the slack in the bearing and when you go for the brake it has to straighten the wheel via the disc before the brake operates.
