Hi looking to buy a 2006 WRX 2.5 turbo but EML is on due to dcat... Not sure how much to fix

The good old "eml because of decat" on a 2.5. Cost to fix is remap or put the cat back in is the short answer. But what code has it thrown up.

If you can get a code reader on it and how long has it been running a decat.

As said above those are you opinions, if that is the issue, if the car hasn’t been remapped already your looking at around £500,
and if you haven’t got the original cat to put back on you’re probably looking at the same for a second hand one, if you can find one.
I would be cautious tho that’s a easy excuse to why the light is on.
when it could be more serious, my other worry would be if hes just put a decat on without a remap what other corners has he cut on maintaining the car.

EML = MOT FAIL
Decat will probably also fail on emissions too.

EML could be hiding a whole number of different faults, not just one for the decat: Such as faults with the tumble valves (TGV). AVCS or cam sensor faults etc.

Adjust offer price accordingly
