Car been off the road almost five years quite a lot of that outside😟
Got it back from body work repairs today, front windows are very slow, passenger side stopped about 50 mm from shut. Managed to get it closed by operating the switch and pulling it up.
Does it need an overhaul, lubrication, or what?
Any advice gladly received.

Try the cheapest option first, clean out all the rubbers around the window along with the dirt and water catching part that the window slides against, then spray it all with silicone spray, after that your looking at the mech and window motor, maybe the motor has got mositure or wet in after being sat off the road for so long and not being used and the motor is struggling. I know on a Ford Focus water getting into the motor is a common issue, you can get it off and turn it upside down and brown water comes running out, it's a job i need to do on the drivers door on my Focus as ive got that issue, it could be similar ona scooby as the symptoms sound similar.

 

Bought some silicone spray.
Need to refresh my memory as to getting the door card off.
Got to hit this before first week in January.

Screw where the door handle is, another under the window switch and then the last one is behind that tab towards the back. I think thats all of them.

 

Think that's it, rest is pop clips round outer edge and a trim clip on the shut area that faces the dash. Top hooks on.

Top of regulator 7. Make sure rollers and rail are greased. Pivot in the middle, and sprocket that's driven by the motor. I have seen this get twisted/bent somehow (maybe from a stuck/stiff window) which means it binds.

Check that glass moves freely in the sashes 2, 3, lube accordingly. And most importantly 5 and 6...if dirty or the felt flocking has worn through , there will be too much friction, and it will also scratch the glass (usually 5).

Can't remember if 4 - the weather strip has felt...other cars do, but if worn off the friction will give the motor a hard time.

 

Need to still do this on all my Impreza's.

 

Sorted.
Door card off, main track at top cleaned up with degreaser, then all tracks, bearings and moving parts treated to WD40 Silicone spray.
Moves like it did new now.
