Recently I've noticed my brake pedal travel seems to be inconsistent. Generally the feel is fine, but sometimes the brakes don't start biting until the pedal is very low. If this happens a couple of pumps stiffens it up again (oo-err!). I haven't really spotted a pattern to when it happens, but I do notice that it is usually bad on the first braking after I've started the car. After that it seems pretty unpredictable.

The only thing I've changed in that area recently is a front wheel bearing, but it was a bit like that before then anyway.
