Default 2015 WRX STI Exhaust Options

Currently running stock but looking to replace the standard exhaust with something to give a better sound/growl but nothing silly sounding and definitely not something that will cause even more interior noise when driving.

seems like there are 2 options either the COBB catback or the corsa catback which seems to be quieter on the motorway.

Also where are the best places to but these days.

Use Google and then if you find somewhere in the UK that stocks them then buy.

I got a whole system for your car available. I'm upgrading to full hand built 3" system very soon along with lots of other upgrades so have lots of current upgrade parts for sale. I actually have 2 choices of downpipe too.

H&S 3" to 2.5" full decat downpipe fully DEI heat wrapped (currently not fitted) Scoobyworld version
or Japspeed 3" to 2.5" decat downpipe (currently on car)
H&S 2.5" deresonated centre section (currently on car) Scoobyworld version
H&S 2.5" rear boxes (currently on car) Scoobyworld version

Sounds perfect!

Let me know if you're interested?

Hi

I have the Invidia R400 on mine, purchased from Tarmac Sportz. Also running a cobra de-cat downpipe. Exhaust sounds great with a deep burble but do get a little drone at low speeds sometimes. As it's just a weekend car this doesn't really bother me.

@gc8simon , hopefully before end of March, but really don’t want something to loud or with drone. How does the milltek sound?

on start up it has a nice mellow tone, it hasnt really unlocked the deep burble but its slightly louder than stock, i would say with a sports cat it would probably be just right. Low rpms you can just hear it burble but on motorways or half throttle acceleration you can hear the engine over the exhaust

Looks like the Invidia Q300 might be a good compromise but don’t seem like there are to many companies I can find out there selling it.

Cheers Don, shortlisted the Corsa which seems to be rated well for less drone.

I recently fitted the Q300 to my 2016 STI. I have to say it's a beautifully made exhaust but I did have to wait 4 weeks to get it (was worth it).
It's quite tame as far as annoying the neighbours go but sounds a lot deeper. It's fairly quite in the cabin (a bit louder and deeper than stock) and sounds great on the outside, especially when giving it some beans. Absolutely no drone whatsoever either which is a bonus as I do a bit of motorway every day.
I got mines through Funky Power if you're interested and plenty of videos on youtube if you want to hear what it sounds like from the outside.

The invidia does look good and sound good, did you have to buy any additional parts to fit it to a stock car?

I bought the mishimoto 2.5" downpipe to 3" mid pipe adapter. This lets you keep the original doughnut gasket in place although I think you'd get away without it as there's a flex piece in the invidia mid pipe, I just wanted to make sure there weren't any leaks as I was fitting myself.
Other than that nothing else needed really.

I see a lot of these cat backs mentioned have the flexi sections in the centre pipe, I was always told to run a mile from these flexi sections.

Have things changed now, are the flexi sections more reliable than they used to be?

Siv.

The Invidia's come with a lifetime warranty so I'm guessing they've improved manufacturing techniques...

Did your cobra pipe have a flange and donut?
