Default Thoughts on RCM oil filters?

Hi all,

Been reading into oil filters as it's time for the service.
I've read that the blue Subaru ones (overseas) are a big no due to issues. And that people usually just stick to the black OEM, quite a few still being used on big power builds.

But I was wondering if people have tried the RCM oil filter? From research people are saying they were testing and designed around the WRC car and that RCM tested on Dyno both and had better oil flow and pressure, any truth in this?

Regards

Brian

you have your colours slightly mixed up..............

the Subaru BLUE OE filter is std fit EU wise (US manufactured) and yes at one point they had specific issues but generally reasonable albeit its not something we use.........

Subaru BLACK is actually the JDM spec filter and far superior (or at least a match) to most "uprated" filters even if they cost 3x times as much!! been tried & tested for years on various competition cars and high HP builds with no issue and pretty good value for money

RCM oil filter is an 'uprated' offering and yes testing has shown to improve/maintain pressure & flow over and above the std one and has only a mild price penalty

Is the RCM filter available again? I thought they'd stopped supplying it?

I think they did stop for awhile due to manufacturing problems. But they are now selling them on their website again.

I used them until they stopped, or jdm black. They were fine, it just depended on how much money I had each time!
