Sti pink injectors.
Cold air feed.
Fully decatted 3" system including up pipe, with sensor delete.
TD05 Hybrid turbo - standard td05 exhaust side with a Garrett 60-1 comp wheel.
3 port solenoid.
Made only 300BHP at MB Motorsport. Open source mapping on Dastek dyno.
I've attached the print out. I was expecting 330BHP minimum with that spec. Turbo should be good for just under 400 maybe 380?
Can anyone advise. I appreciate any Help, I've spoken to RA Perth too but would like a few more folks opinions.
ported headers and a later spec map sensor would have helped i think. the turbo could have been ported as well. every little helps in the final map. a harvey or venturi up pipe would have helped as well.
Open source mapping is awful get a Ecutek map, if you have fitted an eBay or toyo up pipe bin it for your power an sti one would do or if you want to spend the money get a trick up pipe.. What intercooler do you have?
For the kind of power your wanting a vf34/35 would of been better. Also at that power a good panel filter is enough
I was advised by the mapper that open source was fine below 400bhp so not to bother spending the extra 300 quid for ecutek. Turbo was all I could get at the time and all I can afford too. Regardless of this I would still expect minimum of 330 with my spec. I've had a DW200 fuel pump fitted today and a better up pipe (mine was flexi and the guy mapped it while it leaked, ****ing tit)
They will tell you open source is better if that's all they offer lol.. Do some research on it mate you will see...
Are you on standard intercooler? When you say better up pipe what do u class as a "better up pipe"?
I don't think mapping itself can explain the comparably late spool there... Does it drive similar on the road as it does on that dyno graph? I.e. nothing happening before 4k RPM?
Is it really a 60-1 garrett wheel? If so, isn't that absolutely mahoosive? For example, a 20g wheel is 52.5/68mm inducer/exducer, and a 60-1 (if I'm reading correctly) is 59/76, which is comparably massive. If my specs for the 60-1 are correct, then I'd say the wheel is way too big for what a td05H turbine wheel/housing can flow anyway, so maybe quite badly matched?
You could look at things like pre-turbo exhaust leaks, but I think it's simply a massive compressor wheel giving you a sad spool there...
It drives like ****. No boost whatsoever until 4500rpm, drives like a N/A. If im on a hill i have to drop to 3rd gear to get up it, has absolutely no power below 4000 rpm, will not accelarate below 3000rpm in 5th gear just slows down. Ive just found out mapper had mapped the car with 3 exhaust leaks, 2 before the turbo and one at the downpipe!! I have since changed the headers and up pipe like I mentioned. Surely even with the large wheel I should still be having a better experience and seeing well above 300bhp? It is also running lean now after the new headers so not helping anything! I really am lost, the guys I have trusted seem to have led me down a bad path with it, It took me a long time to save to buy the car and then the parts as Im on a low income and I just feel robbed. Its also hard to get proper advice with just being told something is **** and being pointed towards unaffordable parts! I really dont know what to do anymore with it!
The power you are looking at you should of went down the sti route with vf34 or 35 pinks panel filter fuel pump and sti top mount would of seen u 340-350
assuming it's an 04 car going by the reg I wouldn't usually sell you an ECUTek license either, carberry/opensource has a lot more features and would have no problems running over 400hp.
I would be wondering who setup the car/fitted the parts before mapping, maybe it's how i'm reading things but it seems like your blaming the mapper for mapping the car when it was presented with leaks instead of looking at whoever fitted the parts and left them leaking before your mapping session.
Even then I agree with what's said above the turbo choice may not have been - right unless you're planning to forge the engine and run a lot more boost and RPM later on then a VF something or TD05-16g would be the more regular choice for a WRX. All that aside if you've fixed a load of issues that it was mapped with then the map will need adjusted again (or at the very least checked out) to be sure things are still running at their best. In that case I'd keep an eye out for a more sensible turbo choice to suit your injectors (like a STI VF something or 16g) and you'll get some good numbers and decent response.
Not blaming the mapper at all I've had a combination of bad advice and poor parts sold to me. On top of that he didn't smoke test the car before initially mapping it which I feel he should have but I don't hold that against him at all, they are good guys and I would consider them to be mates. I've had way too many different opinions so I've became massively confused with the whole thing. It seems to be the turbo is the issue at this stage but I don't have that kind of money for another turbo and it's looking like I won't for a long time due to the economy where farming is considered. It's too hard to find someone who gives honest advice in this hobby you just get slated and given mixed opinions on mappers
That must be very frustrating. I've been lucky in that I've always found good advice locally. Both from BHP Developments and MB Garage. MB will be mapping my car when its ready.
I've had quite a few mapping sessions over the years and have never had a smoke test done, there was never call for one..
It has been, MB have always been my go to for all my cars. They haven't steered me wrong either but a handful of other folk have and it's cost me a chunk!! Think I may have an actuator issue too! It went in yesterday and made 340ish which I'm very pleased with. I'm about 90% convinced the turbo is a but much for the 2.0l and more suited to a stroker or a 2.5. It's been a stressful week with the car and I've put put about a grand overall for an extra 40BHP 🤢🤢
I'm currently at the same problem
feels to have very little low down and almost have to rag it to get power. Same place.
Also I am down on power compared to previous map and have only added a couple of improvements ( larger newage sti tmic and swrd inlet pipe)
did this get better or resolved
TMIC change will give zero extra power, will just keep temps lower for a longer period, inlet pipe prob wasnt a restriction in the system (depending on your spec) so wont have made any difference either.
The results will only be as good as the weakest link

Should have asked some locals who could have looked at your car for you and identified the issue that you have without any excessive costs. I certainly would not have gone with that turbo on an engine with TGV's

Not the right turbo for your engine either.
Matty is a well established Mapper with a history of good results and has always been honest with people about specs and asking the established and knowledgeable Subaru owners in the Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire area would have saved you some time and heartache!
I suppose it comes down to expectations doesnt improve with.money being thrown at it.
Could it simply be " in my own case " a difference in mapping styles to previous ecu and lower bhp and torque being down to wear and tear of components that doesnt necessarily mean bits are broken but it is 21 years old.
Cant fault Matty himself. Approachable and took the car back to sort cold start and fuelling issue.
I'm trying to get logs and map data from current alcatek ecu and try and get some comparisons to the ecutek I had mapped by jgm. Know of a mapper who has access to my ecu info from jgm.
