Hawkeye WRX PPP failed fuel pump - OEM or uprated?
Hi All,
My local service station got water in their tanks, and now I along with about 7 other vehicles I know of have a failed fuel pump.
1 - why does my UK 2006 Hawkeye not have the same access window to the pump under the rear seat that every other 2006 WRX on Youtube has? I now have to drop the tank which means ramps and paying a garage...
2 - I need to order a new pump at short notice from the states (UK takes too long via freight forwarders). Would the pump in the UK WRX PPP (*not* STI) have been uprated by Prodrive, or would a standard OEM WRX replacement pump work? If I need to go for an uprated pump, would any standard STI pump work, or is there an aftermarket one recommended? I'm not planning any big power upgrades, but may look to fit an additional water separator inline at some point. What flow specs would I need for the 266 bhp map?

its std pump. neither hawkeye WRX or STI got uprated pumps in PPP variant
340lph is the usual "drop in" upgrade
also while you have your pump out of the tank its worthwhile changing the main fuel filter that sits above it

thanks Gambit - doing filter and having to clean out tank as well. When you say "drop in" for the 340 can I assume that means no adjustments needed from me to pump signal - just plug and play?

I was being an idiot with the fuel pump window - found it once I removed the whole rear seat back, not just the bottom part.

Cheers all. ended up grabbing the AEM unit linked - seemed to get way better reviews compared to the Walbro and other alternatives (those Deutchwerks units look great but pricey). Will be another month before I get to git it so just hope the injectors aren't affected either.
Thinking of fitting a marine Racor filter as well, given the crap quality fuel on our island. Just trying to work out best location - there's 2 lines into the engine bay for each bank, but only one from the lifter pump, so working out location that could fit it is a puzzle...

Yeah tested (and another 7 cars we know of suffered the same). Its actually salt water gets in there. They use it to prime the massive pumps on the fuel ships before piping into the storage terminals (or local stations where they are along coast roads). Im hoping the injectors are OK, as wont get chance to fix for another 3 weeks.
