Changing keys after car stolen
Hi Guys
So my 2006 hawk wrx has made it home after being stolen
Whoever stole it still has the ONLY key to the car, it's one of the single button keys
The car has a keypad thingie under the steering wheel drawer, but I've never had a fob or code, the car just starts on the key
Can i just change the locks/ecu, or does more need to be done?
Cheers

It's an option, at first they said if i recover the car, I'd have to pay my excess... Now that I'm not doing a full claim, they say I won't have to pay my excess, but my insurance prices will probably go up...
That said, the insurance price hike may be less money than replacing the bits
I'm not quite sure what to do

Keypad in coin tray is for the Sigma M30 alarm/immobiliser. If you don't have a working key (alarm fob incorporated into keys pcb) or the PIN for the keypad you would need to get it sorted via Subaru or a Scorpion/Toad/Sigma authorised Installer.
As well as being the alarm fob, the key has a transponder chip in it that "talks" to the ECU and Immobiliser module to activate/deactivate the OEM immobiliser.

With regards to insurance, if you have the car back and didn't claim on insurance the premiums still go up despite getting the car back, as if nothing happened?
Speak to a breaker and get a complete lock set and then fit an after market alarm.

I don't think they quite understand the work involved, due to the sigma alarm, but we'll see...
