If I just want to view logs, not Edit anything.. will a vagcom cable and romraider work on a laptop , with the 2003 JDM STi ? would the SSM be an issue ?

yes just a vag com KKL lead will do for logging with romraider software. Or if you want a log with wideband and knock sensor hooked up if you fancy a trip to belfast some time I can help you out.
