Default Greddy Data link unit ?

I'm running 3 greddy gauges , not fitted by me , does this mean behind the dash I have a data link unit somewhere ? Or can the gauges work without this unit ( I have no idea what it does )

Reason I ask I'm thinking of adding an additional greddy gauge and not sure if I need to buy the gauge or gauge with data link unit ?

Cheers
