Default Removal of steering column. how to?

My steering wheel folds all the way forward (but not down or to either side). It's not the steering height adjuster either! So I assume its a broken column of some description, how best do i go about assessing whats broken and how to remove/replace the column?

cheers

Ash

Column is easy to remove. There is a universal joint in the engine bay below the turbo remove the pinch bolt that holds the column to the UJ. Disconnect all the wiring connectors at the column, best to do this with the battery off if you have an air bag. Under the colun there are 2 bolts holding the column to the cross dash member. Once these are out its a case of pulling it out.

There is a plastic bush that fits in a hole in the bulkhead which supports the bottom of the column, worth checking before taking too much apart
