Unhappy

The whole transplantation is not an issue anymore. When the "265HP-ForesterMY01" arrived,it apeared to be a normal MY'98!This was a bad surprise as you can imagine.
Therefore we skip to plan B,and replace the unrepairable parts of my engine, for new,or revised ones.

Greetings Arend.

Hello overseas neighbours!

I am Arend, and I am an overseas neighbour from Holland.I usually visit the Dutch SCN,our Sub.site, but now I am interrested in the opinion of my UK neighbours.

2 weeks ago my engine was blown(MY'99 gt-turbo Impreza)probably due to injector-failure.(Not certain yet.)

I now have the opportunity to place a STI-engine which was imported from Japan. It is told to be an 265HP engine, which original runned in a MY'01 Forester-STI.It only has run about 22.000km.(13750mile?)
I am told by many people, including engineers/garagists that the engine should fit in my gt-turbo,without to much trouble.
The idea is to place the engine, but use the original gt-turbo-injectors in combination with the orig.gt-turbo-ECU.The ECU then will be remapped, and converted to STI-values.(About 280HP/375Nm)RPM's will rise from 7000rpm.max.to 8000rpm.max,and of course something will be done with the speeflimiter:-)
This will be done by a engineer ho has the license to do this..

What kind of problems do you think I can expect doing this kind of transplantation?(The fact that it's a rightsteered engine should not be a problem too,in my leftsteered Gt-turbo I was told)

I understand that the increased torque is a havier job for my gt-turbo clutch, but was told that it could take 450Nm.(How many lb/Ft is this?)Do expect trouble on this?Same of course goes for the gearbox.

And finally, what effect will the gear-ratio of my gt-turbo have on the performance of this type of engine?

A lot of questions, and not to many language-mistakes I hope.

Any information according to my plan is welcome!

Best regards,
Arend Terpstra
Holland.
