Hi guys I have just put my engine in today and struggling to get oil pressure up to turbo pipe befor I start the engine it seems like I haven't primed the roger Clark oil pump prior to install please anyone got any ideas to get the pressure up before first start as it is a fresh forged rebuild and I don't want to fire without it primed I have tried turning it over with plugs out and plugs in and filling oil filter still no joy please please is there anyway this could be done without starting it please let me know cheers guys

 

I normally turn the engine upside down on the engine stand and pour oil in te pick up pipe whilst cranking over. Sorry this isn't much help now you have out the engine in.
Do you have an oil pres gauge?

 

The engine is in now �� I'm thinking to put a big seringe on the oil filter side under pressure and turn it over by hand then refit oil filter with oil then crank it and hopefully get oil pressure up I have no oil pressure gauge and oil light is still on when key is engaging and turning over I'm running out of ideas��

 

I will be fitting oil pressure gauge asap after engine first oil change

 

I believe that you can prime the pump by filling through the oil pressure sender on the top of the block.

 

On a fresh dry build you are much better not filling the oil filter, as the oil in it causes a restriction to the air you are trying to expel in order to pick oil up from the sump, always fill the filter on oil changes after the initial start up.

You could add a couple more litres to the sump to level up the pick up, so it has less of an uphill pull, once pressure is achieved by cranking restore its correct level.
