Default Newage - prodrive to standard exhaust

Sadly I'm going to change my prodrive backbox on the blobeye prodrive wagon to a standard one. The drone on the motorway just doesn't work for me. I like the cars to be quiet.

Am I right in thinking it's just a straight forward backbox swap over? Is centre section on a prodrive exhaust the same as the standard pea-shooter one?

Many thanks.

Hi
Yes it's a straight forward swap. Best buy a new gasket/bolts from scoobyworld etc. Not sure why it's droning on motorways? Do you still have a resonator box in place? It's the pipe the back box fits on to. Also your car has a ppp ecu on it, therefore it's mapped to suit this larger exhaust.

Thanks Phil.

Resonator box is still there - just sounds droning to my ears. I used to have a 310 bhp modified wagon that had a standard pea-shooter exhaust!

I do enjoy the deeper burble around town though.

Mine is quiet on the motorway as well and I have a straight through centre section, you sure it's not blowing?

I have an OEM STi back box which is very quiet sat in the attic if you're interested, a lot less restrictive than the pea-shooter.

Just out of interest, what makes you say that? I'm of the opinion that the standard WRX exhaust will work with anything that the td04 can throw at it, but I'm happy to be proven wrong

Scotsman, I know where you're coming from regarding the drone. I think it's something to do with the wagon cabin shape and standing waves or something - my bug wagon was terrible for droning at certain revs.

Definitely not blowing and I have done the same in a previous Scooby - got a prodrive backbox but changed it back to the pea-shooter. This wagon came with the Prodrive pack and thought I wouldn't mind so much, but I do. Just doesn't work for me, sadly I like quiet cars :-(

Yes Henrik - seems to be worse at 70-80 on the motorway, where is where I do most of my miles. Fine with music on, but I do take a good number of work calls.
