Default faulty auto folding wing mirror

I am having a problem with the drivers wing mirror on my 09 Impreza 2.0 RX.

The mirrors are auto (motorised) folding. However, when they opened out yesterday morning the motor in the drivers mirror did not not stop. The mirrors will still fold in and out as needed. But once in position, whether the mirrors are against the car or out in the normal position, the motor in the drivers one just does not stop whiring... I have just been out for an hour and it was going the whole time.

Obviously this isn't ideal... Does anyone know if this is just a small part in need of replacement or the whole mirror?

Thanks

Mirror.
it's difficult, but you MIGHT get it apart and find out what's up, the stop is obviously faulty.

Chances are you'll get it in bits and either you can't get the part, or you can't see what's up.

Thank you for your replies.
I've visited my garage and we've found it's the gear box part of the wing mirror motor that has broken. The replacement part (not the whole unit just the parts needed) are £330 plus VAT!
Fortunately, I took out an extended AA warranty when I purchased the car...

The AA have agreed to pay for it all... Garage has the part on order - will hopefully arrive and be fitted mid week.

Last year I had a gearbox issue - couldn't get into reverse gear. As I had not long purchased the car from a main dealer I returned there. I don't know the technicalities but was told that most probably not aligned correctly in manufacture and had slowly worn. All was repaired through AA warranty.

The gear box issue more than recouped the warranty charge. Now with this as well... plus still have 20 months left on it...
