Hi guys
I've got a leak from the drivers side Rocker Cover, I had this done about 2 months ago from Xtreme Scoobies and now he's not willing to fix it as he's not answering his phone nor replying to my emails, I cant really use the car at the moment as the oil leaks onto the Exhaust Manifold and I then get smoke from the scoop and vents.


My question is, can I fix this my self or would I need to take to a Subaru specialist, If I could do this myself what would I need ie do the gaskets come as a kit (Gasket Rubber washers etc).


Any help appreciated, I've tried to reason with Xtreme Scoobies but not getting anywhere.

newage? best thing is to fit a genuine gasket pal and reinforce it with rtv sealant. hes probably used an afternarket gasket and did he replace the noggins behind the rockers bolts?

take out the airbox and you will be able to gain access to the rocker easy enough. take out the coilpacks (12mm bolts) and undo the 8 bolts (10mm spanner) holding the rocker in place and label them up to put them back in in the same positions. also watch out for the half moon in the bottom corner and make sure thats sealed in tight too. if you want to do the job including a good clean up you can gain good access to it (and the bottom bolts) from underneath if you take off the exhaust manifold aswell. bit overkill doing this but depends how **** you are. anyways, the whole job is doable from the top

 

ive just done both sides on my classic and replaced half moons as they tend to get chipped, and as above make sure the bolt gaskets are ok, i used threebond 1215 gasket silicone sealant on mine and now no leaks at all. quite an easy job as long as your handy around an engine etc.

I'll get original genuine parts including the half moons, I'll do it myself and see if it stops the leak, Appreciate the advice.
Think (ICP) import car parts do a gasket kit.
