Default Air Conditioning leak 2007 STi

Hi guys I have a 2007 Impreza STi which has developed a leak in the AC system.

I can see exactly where its leaking, the is a metal pipe attached the the side of the air con compressor which leads to the bulkhead. I have a FMIC and the piping has been resting on the AC pipe which has caused it to wear and now leak

Rang Subaru and they said they can order a part but will take 8 days to get here.

My question is, is the AC system connected to the engine cooling system in anyway?

So if it does leak It wont effect the engine coolant levels? I ask because I was hoping to stop the leak by applying a rag and a jubilee clip until the part arrives, but don't want to risk it if engine coolant is leaking.

I was under the impression AC fluid is completely different system to engine coolant system and wont matter as much if its leaks as engine coolant as I never use AC as it is.

Any help much appreciated

Cheers

Lewis

Brilliant, thanks for clearing that up. Have attached a piece of hosing to the offending pipe and secured it with 2 jubilee clips to stop the slight leak till the replacement part arrives. Cheers!
