Haven't used it much recently but it definitely feels light through the steering under hard power from the front right. I had some tyre squeal as well a few times before the winter months which I put down to the tyres (Uniroyal Rainsports).


As far as a I know its never had any suspension, shocks or bushes replaced in its well-cared for life.


Any ideas - I have poly bushes to be fitted in the spring but whats the first place to look at ?

The steering / offside front wheel feels light under power. To the extent that I get tyre squeal from that corner, but not the front nearside if I apply the same treatment.

 

Assuming you've got decent tyres, correct pressures and even wear, it sounds like an alignment issue, or worn lower arm rear bushes perhaps? My car (48k miles) did this too,which is a trait of the standard setup's anti lift geometry. Cured with Whiteline anti-lift correction kit. Car now lifts a bit, but front wheels stay planted under power.

Would you have the reference to the kit you installed, and did you go for the anti-roll bar as well or just the anti-lift kit?

I have kept the standard arbs. I have Prodrive Bilsteins with the blue springs, which were developed with the standard arbs in mind. (The later classic WR Sport Pro Bilsteins with grey springs came with a bigger rear arb). I like the balance of the car as it is, and won't be changing them. I've been down the bigger arb route before with other cars, including my Outback, with limited success.
