I live 5/6 miles from my exchange and I get 72mb. The infinity service have to give you at the very least 15mb for it to be deemed acceptable by BT. The engineer told me that when he was doing the line tests. At the worst you'll get 15mb.

We looked into satalite broadband as we can't have landline broadband here.

However due to a very high latency it's not suitable for online gaming, my son spends a lot of time on xbox live so we discounted it.

Currently tethering to 3 via a mobile, unlimited internet and have had speeds up to 19mb so all good.

BT can do a line test very easily and quickly. They should be able to tell him what's what straight away.

Got on wave satellite here, Bt we used for about 7 years, was slow and a bit unreliable.

they decided one day just to cut off the signal because it wasn't worth maintaining

Satellite has been good, expensive to set up however the connection's are quicker. Useless for online gaming as it doesnt work at all. However for all other usage it's quicker and better

If BT say you can have infinity that is pretty much a no brainer over sattelite.

Try that first.
