Advice please...
I'm considering fitting an induction kit to my P1. However I have had various views as to whether its a good idea. Some say that the MAF sensor on the P1 is too sensitive and could easily be damaged, others that it will have to be re-mapped to compensate etc... It's getting a bit too techy for me!

Comments please?, and those out there who have already done this and have no problems, what did you fit?, did you re-map? and are the benefits worth it?

I found the gains are minimal up top, and lost torque low down because it exacerbates an existing lean spot - this is on a UK car, the P1 map still looks lean low down. Too many MAF sensors go for me to go near one again personally. Everyone has their views, but I would spend the cash on something else.

 

Don't do it Steve, I researched this and there were no gains over a panel filter and more downsides to be honest.....

I remember you were enquiring about an APS induction kit. Would you tell us your findings please m8 cos I have the APS kit on my car and I'm wondering whether this is the cause of my leaner than normal 02 sensor readings with Delta Dash.

Out of interest, can anyone confirm that the P1 is more prone to MAF sensor damage than other similar powered Soobs? This seems to be the comment I'm hearing most.

Steve it has the same as the phase 2 STI engine strangly enough . I have heard of quite a few needing replacement on a regular basis on these as well. They aint cheap either I have a standard panel filter in mine and have avoid going down the induction kit and also avoided the VTA dump valve as well with the fueling issues with them.

thanks for info, strangely enough I tried a VTA dv and ended up with some fueling issues also.

Going off the number of replies this is NOT a popular mod on a P1.

Guess I'll save myself the money (& grief?) and look for horses eleswhere.

I must confess I expected someone to say they had done this and how well it had worked out...... ah well.
