Where should the cats be on my car?

Default Where should the cats be on my car?

Going for a whole new exhaust and thinking of putting the cats back on and wonderring where would they of been originally , dont want to buy wrong bits, also is it as simple as i buy a up pipe, a middle section and a back box? car is a 54 blob wrx

On a standard wrx system you will have a cat in the up pipe, the down pipe is in 2 sections with a cat in each, the centre pipe has a resonator chamber to keep the noise levels down and then a backbox at the rear. The usual upgrade if you want to keep the cats in place is to replace the 2 piece downpipe for a 1 piece sports cat downpipe. The centre pipe and backbox are interchangeable as long as you stay with the same size 2.5" bore of course.
