Default Cigarette Lighter an Fog Light

Hello everyone,

i“ve just bought a 99 Impreza GT Turbo and now i have two problems, which i can“t figure out.
1. The left Fog doesn“t work. We replaced the bulb but that doesn't seem to be the problem. We also checked all fuses but all of them seem to be okay.

2. The Cigarette Lighter doesn“t provide any power. We checked that all cables are connected to the lighter. I need it, to charge my Navigation-System over it. Of course i“ve tested the cable of the Navigation-System in another car. It is working there.

Does anyone has any Idea how i could fix this? Any help would be great.

PS: Sorry for the bad english ;-)

Do you have a circuit tester?
One like this is useful: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6V-12V-24V...item4625ed349c
Or a multi-meter?

Use either to probe the foglight wiring to see if you have a live there. then trace the wiring back to the next connector and repeat.

The cig lighter may be a fuse. AFAIK there is often one as part of the socket, remove it for a look and use the circuit tester to probe for lives again.

Thank you for the quick response!
I actually don“t have a circuit tester or a multi-meter. But going to get one i think.
I also thought about testing the wire.

Regarding the cig lighter: I will check if there is a fuse as part of the socket.

Many thanks so far!

Are you sure it's supposed to have two fog lights? My 2007 only has the RH.

I think he means the front fogs........
They are fog lights, not driving lights, despite some ebay sellers saying otherwise...although driving lights ARE available as an alternative at £££.

Hey Guys,

thanks again for your help!
We figured out why the front fog light wash“t working.
The cable of the fog light has a plug which connects it to the rest of the electric system.
In this plug, the cable was broken. We now had cut of the plug and connected the two cables through a lustre terminal. Now the fogs are working brilliant!

Regarding the cigarette lighter:
We do think, that it is broken. I now ordered a new one (only 5€). Hope that will fix the Problem.
