Default Suspension part for 05 WRX

I have noticed a few small knocks and wobbles coming from the suspension over the last 12 months. Took it my mechanic today, got it up on the ramp and had a good look all round.

This is what we both agree needs replacing:

-Offside front lower ball joint
-Drops links front and rear
-Anti roll bar 'D' bushes front and rear with new clamps
-Offside inner drive shaft gaiter

We also noticed that both rear shocks are weeping but also that the nearside rear shock has a smaller ram diameter than the offside rear?? I suspect it has been replaced at some point for a non genuine part.

Now, I want to get all the parts changed next month. It would also make sense to fit some lowering springs as I hate how high it sits at the moment.

What I would like opinions/experience on is whether the high quality aftermarket drop links and ball joint offered from ICP will be ok, or should I just buy everything from Subaru?

Also, what shocks and springs? KYB?

Any help/advice appreciated.

Don't buy directly from subaru will cost you an arm and a leg

try alyn at asp he will sort you out some good prices

Import car parts are also good have bought from. Them in the past

Have you thought about buying second hand standard shocks?

Lowering springs would be tein or prodrive

Also if you can hold of them sti pinks

Steve

I have just had a few issues with pattern parts. Not on the Impreza mind. Bought some wishbones for my old focus and they made it dangerous to drive. Ended up refitting the old ones.

Will contact Alyn shortly. :thumb

i replaced my rear shocks with KYB gold ones (about £200 for the pair)

the thinner shocker will have been replaced at some time, but probably had a 2.0 non turbo item fitted instead

I fitted PI lowering springs and have been happy with the amount lowered and the improvement in handling

I don't think the sti shockers will fit, they are inverted, unlike the WRX ones

Cheers guys. Any idea what the diameter of the front and rear anti roll bars are on a 2005 WRX?

I was thinking 20 mm rear.

The uprated ones are usually 22mm or 24mm. 17 mm to 22mm seems like too much of an increase

Everywhere that I can find the info says 17mm rear and 20mm front. Would explain the understeer!

Will grab my vernier from work tomorrow and check.

Correction 20mm front and rear after I measured it.

Ordered updated drop links and bushes front and rear, genuine Subaru ball joint and a cv gaitor kit.

Top service from Alyn.
