Ring your local dealer, they might be able to cross reference the chassis number and the number plate if you can provide them with both.

Hpi.co.uk is the only one I'd use if your doing a hpi. It asks for vin for further identification of vehicle and checks almost everything.
Think it's £20 for 1 check or £30 for 3 cars

No buddy I meant do you know a trader? A trader pays peanuts for a hpi where we get stung £20 or whatever it is.
The text checks I personally think are crap.
All mine get done by a friend in the trade

Hpi check won't tell you if it's had a smack though unless it's been recorded.

You're better off buying hpi one for £30 seen as you're looking, I'm sure they are valid for a bit,Maoris out a £10 each and if you don't use them all, sell them off.

When I purchased my most recent car the previous owner provided me with a full HPI check as part of our agreement of sale.

When we bought our subaru the car dealer, one that has been in centre of town for many years but not franchise, provided us with a full hpi certificate.

It wasn't until the missus . . Ahem . . Modified the rear bumper, when I went to change it, noticed some yellow, car breakers style, writing on the offside rear lamp. Upon further inspection it is possible to make out very slightly in the right light, where the rear quarter panel has been blown in, half way along, above the side windows on that side.

Hpi doesn't always tell you the full story.

Absolutely, for all I know mine could have been wrapped round a bus shelter in Nagasaki. Or been used to mow down a load of gogs by its last owner.

But it looks pretty clean up on the ramp and I've got a certificate saying it's legit so hey-ho

(And being a tight-**** saved myself a few quid by getting the previous owner to do it )

Well hopefully the latter, less likely to have bent the chassis

Not all doom and gloom, there were no markings of that nature on the bumper that I removed and everything else looked straight and untouched.
On a previous car my transport manager backed a Luton into the back of it at work, cracking a rear light and putting a two inch long crease below the lamp. My gov'nor took the car down to his panel beater friend to get repaired, and he resprayed the whole quarter panel and roof beam all the way down to the windscreen, so the damage on my car could have been minimal, but I will never know.
