Default Exhaust cut out valve/ bypass valve

Seen this installed on a civic type r and thought its quite cool. From being super loud it can become super quiet at the flick of a switch. Has anyone installed this on a impreza? Are there any negatives to it? Quite interested in installing it on to my impreza and for the price seems pretty cheap.

You wont find a 3" one for an impreza exhaust and as long as you dont drive on boost with it shut nothing will go wrong

i think you mean if your on boost you'll need it fully open. There will be problems with your map though as your changing the amount of backpressure in the exhaust.

You can get a backbox with it built in now:

Or just the butterfly valve in the exhaust pipe:

Unless you mean something different?

Im not sure. How does that muffler one work?

This was the one i've seen

yeah never thought about the map bit. But why couldn't you use your normal exhaust on full boost?

Yes in theory, the only problem is you won't be able to show it any boost with the valve shut, and also it will severly restrict the power,

I wouldn't recommend one for every day driving, I would use mine just for rolling through town or just to pass a noise test from vosa/plod etc
