Default Has my head gasket gone???

Hi all
I have a subaru impreza turbo 2000 1997 it's all standard and was just wondering if anyone could help me because in not shore if my head gasket has blown. The coolent bottle keeps emptying. A little water comes out of the filler cap for the water (but the cap is damaged). The car is so hesitant when I put my foot down. My back box goes so black in a matter of two days.

Start by topping up the header tank (on the engine) when the engine is cold. The expansion tank by the radiator is designed to hold the inevitable overflow from the header tank which is expelled when the engine heats up. There is a flap valve in the cap on the header tank which allows water to be sucked back into the header tank as it cools. If you think the cap is dodgy, fit a new one.
Water should flow from the header tank to the expansion tank and back again. If you are losing water from the whole system via the expansion tank, and there is no leak anywhere else, you have a head gasket failure.

Many thanks for you reply. Would that explain why the car is hesitant could it be water going through into a cylinder

Not necessarily! You can't beat having someone switched on to look at it for you.
