Default Replacement Box for an MY01 SPEC C type RA

hi guys,

my pal has an MY01 Spec C Type RA. During the weekend ,his gearbox finally gave in.Its stuck on 3rd. he's opting to replace the whole box ,Since his kind are rare to find,he has found an MY04 STI gearbox.

my question is, will it work on his car as both have DCCD.

thanks in advance.

Yes, but he will need the rear diff as well because the final drive ratios are matched to the gear box and different because the spec c has a short ratio box.

Something you would need to look at is the difference in DCCD, Does the RA have manual dccd? As the MY04 has a-dccd(auto), you may need an aftermarket dccd controller, I'm not 100% sure but thought it was worth mentioning

If the 04 box is a JDM it will have the same 3.9 final drive so rear diff will be fine, in regards to the dccd you can just wire it to your current setup and run a manual setup no issue
