The filler pipe is a well known rust magnet. It may leak when cornering and if the tank is near full depending on where the leak is in the pipe. If its that badly rusted then you will want to sort it asap before it gets words. You can't really fix them as they are crap. New ones are about £90 i believe. No aftermarket item available. You can get fuel filler flexi pipe which if you are a bit handy you could make your own probably.

yes I think a replacement is the best option. or cut the pipe and re fit some flexi hose with jubillie clips .... but cutting pipe worries me abit. a spark might cause a problem or two!. thanks for your response

It's the plastic guard that is the problem, allows dirt and water to gather.

I got a replacement one from one of the breakers on here for £25 or so.

Also the pipe is bare metal and not coated or protected. If you do repair obviously remove the pipe before doing anything that involves friction and heat/sparks!

Its quite easy to remove. Four bolts in the filler cap. A couple in the arch (take the wheel off). And then some hose clips.

Unless it's like mine. 4 screws in the filler cap, that needed cobalt drill bits to drill them out.

OP, brand new;

Mine was leaking too, took it off and cleaned it back to bare metal. Found a few pin holes and filled with chemical metal. Painted with cold galvanising paint and then painted with black Hammerite. Solid! Never leaked again.
