Well my05sti needs rear shocks (clonking)((abit)) plus if car is lifted rear wheels drop an inch after 5 seconds in the air Hope that make sense.

Don't really fancy coilovers

So phoned Camskill very helpful but after they checked with Subaru it seem the correct ome shock from Camskill are £806 the pair delivered

seems a lot what else could I do?

'05-on STi's are the "widetrack" version, so the struts will be different to earlier WRX or STi, and different to '05-on WRX.

Subaru part numbers are 20360FE900 or 20360FE901 or 20360FE902 for right and 20360FE910 or 20360FE911 or 20360FE912 for left.

The difference is the lower strut. the bottom mount is different. That's it. You can undo the bottom nut and remove the insert. Buy an Ultra SR KYB and rebuild. Loads cheaper. You just have to refurb your outer lower struts. I would get them blasted and powder coated myself, £60 for the pair if you shop around. Voila!

 

Thanks, let me just clarify buy the £300 set of ultra sr kyb then remove bottom lower out side casing, as such, re fit lower casing form mine (and this will all fit together?) fit and done

 

To clarify I've just replaced my rear shocks on my Widetrack 2005 STi.

Didn't phone camskill before ordering and ordered the 2002 on STI rear KYB Ultra SR shocks.

They fitted perfectly. Went straight on.

Since then I've learned I should have phoned before ordering because I was thinking on doing fronts too but after checking this time before ordering they now want over £1k for 2 front genuine Subaru shocks because KYB don't do them.

He also said the same thing for rear and that he can't see how I bought and fitted them. So believe what you will.

My rears are fitted and working perfectly.

Did they mention the 57 different rear set ups for WRX sti some fit some don't. Wonder if I could get lucky, May be get the same as you see if they fit and modifiy as above if not

I just navigated to the UK GDB WRX STI parts list and it gave me the options list for the shocks.

Found the ones that I thought corresponded to my car and bought them.

Delivered and fitted.

I may have got lucky but I know now for sure that the actual part no I bought is correct because it fits.

No modifications required either.

Unless I hear from some people running coil overs for more than a year saying they are a top bit of kit and it's definitely the way forwards

 

Any luck? Mine are knocking and i'm hoping to replace the struts this week.. Can't find any parts online!!

 

Plan to try the re-grease, fit nipple method when I get a min, or pay specialist to do this. Pending price.

Then if they are beyond this fix, then buy the set above(cheap ones) and hope they fit. If not swap outers over.

Hope to get it done in about two months (still saving)

Still might pop some coil overs on but worried I'll hate them.

Athame1-I have a brand new set of KYB ultra SR rear struts in my shed,I say brand new,they were fitted to my 05 STi for 1 month before I changed to BC,s,drop me a PM if you are interested

I have a complete genuine Subaru pair of rear shocks from a 2005 sti complete with springs etc , been fully rebuilt and never fitted , had them sitting in my garage as a spare set incase I needed them but mine have been fine , car is going soon so the rebuilt shocks are up for sale , pm me if interested

 

I got my struts serviced and regreased while fitting new prodrive springs 6 months ago and the car feels **** the shockers sit down at the rear and the fronts are solid I'm just getting rid and going for the bc's wish I should have just done in the first place and saved a few quidalot of fooking about trying to get it right on old shockers is just not gonna work

 

interesting mine are 2000 times better

 

So in the end. I got a set of re-greased ones off a helpful chap on this thread.
fitted them and all is good.

Still have my original ones which I plan to fit nipples and re-grease
(as a spare set).

Will post if/when they start to clonk again...
