Default Wet under bonnet and wet air idle control valve

I've gone to drive my 99 turbo this morning after it had rained yesterday and started the car with no problems but with really rough idle. I've switched off and started again and driven afew yards and noticed no acceleration. I've turned off again opened the bonnet to see a build up of water on the under side of bonnet and the idle control valve very wet. I dryed what moisture I could see and took the idle control valve apart and cleaned reassembled and started the car to which it now runs fine.

My question is has anyone else experienced this or is there a leak on my bonnet, i appreciate the scoop is near but I've never noticed this before and lets face it we've had far worse rain recently so last nights rain was nothing.?

Could it be ignition leads related as I mopped water off these to?

Any suggestions appreciated

Have the backing plates to the bonnet vents been removed?
