Default AST suspension

Dilemma.... To sell or service and keep..

The scooby I bought from the gf's old man is running fully adjustable AST suspension courtesy if Power Station, Tewksbury and all need a good service. I need my car on the road at all times as I'm an on call fire fighter and could be called anytime so here's my issue....
I don't use the car for track days or racing, only too and from the station and around and about. Is is worth me buying a standard set of suspension to run and sell a serviced set of AST's (original price £1700 +VAT) or service them and put back on???

Your thoughts.

I'd price the job up first, as in how much for standard and how much for a service, there is also the 3rd option of selling without a service which could see you break even on the standard setup.

I've had a price off a guy on here and is reasonable price for standards and a service on all four corners not including extra non covered parts is £300 and that's if I took them there myself. The plan for now I think is standard it up and wait till I have a spare £300 for service and decide then??

I presume they are AST variant 3, could cost as much as £500 with shipping and parts, then i'd say you'll struggle to get much more than the cost of a set of new meister r or bc coilovers which are around the £650/700 mark with them being second hand, someone might stretch to £800 but i'd say that honour would be reserved for a set of bilstiens.

Sold as is i'd say somewhere around the £250/300 mark, so swings and roundabouts.

Yeh I can't decide should I service them and have the standards put on to drive them down for said service. It would be good to have them on in working order as like you said at a stretch £800 and at minimum £300 for service (includes internals) but anything extra. May just have the standards till I get the ast's done and them put them back on :s

Yeah i'd probably do that and see if you miss them or not, then decide from there.

AST's are leagues above the BC's or Meister Coilovers. Get them serviced and keep them, they are great!

Selling them on as is gives you less hen selling them after service - cost of service.
