I have a 2.5 STI SCD short engine with reconditioned wrx heads and inlet in a 2004 Blobeye but it has a faint knock from the bottom end.

It still runs/drives ok and the knock appears as the revs increase, not decrease so i'm not exactly sure what is the cause as the only other knocking engines i've heard made a lot louder noise off load.

My question is, what sort of costs are involved in a repair on it, is it worth repairing or should I just sell it as it is? Its had a huge amount of work done to it (£8000 spent in 2009) including a CR Turbo's TD05-20g, Simtek, pinks, sti tmic, fuel pump, uprated clutch/flywheel, remap, uprated oil pump etc and the engine had a 6000 mile warranty but its now done 9000 and this noise has started.

Its been running 360/380 for 4 years with no problems.

Any ideas on value or costs to repair? Thanks

£1500 and your old short engine, or £1800, your old engine and i'll fit your heads etc

 

thanks but I'm only looking too see if theres value for money in repairing it or what its worth as it is. I dont need another engine, the car is being broken
