Cool New kid on the scene

Hello guys just thought I'd say a quick hello and hopefully start coming to meets etc this is my first scooby and came from the VW world

Iv done a few things to it but hopefully this summer when I get time il concentrate under the bonnet and buy new alloys for it.

At the moment its running 1.3 bar so around 260-270bhp on the td04 but im lookin around for a VF35, Sti intercooler & pink injectors then a new map. I should be happy then.

Let me know what you think (I know not everyone will like it)

Is that matt black paint?

Looks smart mate but I'm not a massive fan of the wheels personally

The wheels are rubbish/hiddious lol they are being replaced but im in a pickle with what to buy. I fancy Rota grids but I like to be different so im looking around atm.

Yeah it is matt black, I plasti-dipped the car myself to be abit different for the shows this year. The original colour is silver and it can be put back without damage to the original paint so win win.

Yes it is sprayed on and the colours are getting much much better where as before it was limited.

Its very durable, easy to remove if sprayed on thick enough. Any panel damage its literally pull the plastic and respray lol You can even pressure wash it.

Admittedly I could have done it alot better as I rushed it but it still looks very good to the eye. It is never going to be a show car haha

It is nice to see something a little different from the plethora of white cars which seem to be popular at the moment.

As has already been said try and pop along to a local meet if you can, and welcome to the Welsh section.

Jealousy is so hard to control, even the P1 started off as a white Type R.

Jealous, moi? We all know that blue is the colour that's why the best models are only painted in it.

Read my post again Ian, paying particular reference to the word only.

S202, they are yesterday's model - a mere memory, bloody fugly bugs.

By the way Jamie, hope you have sent off your logbook showing a colour change of the car? Even if it's a temporary change like a wrap you still have to inform the dvla. It's a criminal offense not to tell them quite annoyingly!

Welcome to ScoobyNet fella. IMO the wheels are not that bad, I've seen a lot worse on a Subaru. I didn't know what that coating was and presumed it was vinyl wrap until my mate told me how it was done at the weekend.
Hope you enjoy your new car and get along to a meet soon

Thanks guys. I'm always around Aberdare so give me flash/wave 👍

The wheels are definitely being changed it's just deciding what I want.

Iv informed my insurance but not dvla... I didn't think it was necessary as it's a temporary change? Il look it up tomorrow just to be safe.

Plasti dip is amazing, cheap, diy, easy to change/remove and it's different! It even protects the paintwork. This was done using the plasti dip aerosol cans out my back garden lol and it's turned out great!! So many people think it's a wrap and don't believe me.

Even if temporary change you need to inform the dvla.

Spoke to dvla today and they confirmed that it's ok to keep the logbook as it is, this is because it's a temporary change. They have however put a note on their system so we will see if I get pulled lol

Good news iv decided what wheels I wanted and ordered a set of 18" rota grids so should be here this week or next 😎 in matt grey

Welcome along Jamie, looks a very good job you've done on the car there, and as you say, it's different so hats off to you. Fwiw I don't mind the wheels that are on it ATM, but the grids would certainly be an improvement.
Good luck with your new car and subaru ownership (it can be a ******* sometimes!)

Sounds good, brakes are over-rated though

Am I the only one who's standard brakes are poo?! Coming from a vw even standard 1.8t brakes were able to stop a 250bhp golf quickly and safely. My scooby brakes tend to fade pretty quickly lol
