Default PSi3 Advice Needed

I know that a few members on here have had or do have a PSi3, what I need to know is do they work with classic models prior to v5/v6 models?

I am thinking about trying to source one instead of a set of Lamco gauges but there is little point if it won't work.

I know that they come with green or blue screens but that is about I do know about them.

So any advice welcome and if anyone knows where I could source one from then that would be great.

I've got a spare one that I could part with for the right offer

I am not sure if it works with the 22B, I guess so as I have seen them in classics.

I will do some research to see if it will work, do you have an idea of price?

Ty,

You need an OBD to work the PSi3's.

Oh well that's that knackered then, I thought that was the case but I wasn't sure.

Looks like I will have to continue looking for a set of Lamco gauges then.

Doesn't the 22B have a OBD?
That's strange. How does one read fault codes or data log the ECU then?

I believe that you would use Subaru Select on the pre v5/6 cars, it was based around their own proprietary protocols.

The PSI3 uses SSM so you will be fine

Tried and tested in JDM Imprezas and Fozzies.

The PSi3 connects to the car via a OBD port, but I don't think the 22b had them as the are pre-99 MY cars. MY99/00 had them.

I will find out tomorrow if it has an OBD socket, as that is when I pick the car up.

I am really looking for the white faced gauges complete with all the sensors - they certainly know how to charge at Jap Performance Parts, but I really appreciate you having a look for me.

Yes the Lamco gauges are getting harder to find especially with all the senders and the genuine Subaru Lamco pod as well.

Thanks Kev, the car does have an OBD socket so at least there is a 50/50 chance of it working.

I will drop you a text in the week to see if I can pop around or meet you, that way I can try it out next weekend.

I picked it up this afternoon Glenn, it is now up in Leominster awaiting a full service plus some other minor bits and pieces.

Ty,

Some of the parameters require Defi sensors that can be wired into the sockets on the back. Without them you will not get Oil Temp and Pressure.

I had a psi3 monitor in my old impreza which I bought new but to be honest I wasn't that impressed with it and found the display too small to see when driving and during the day it was totally impossible to see the display properly so for the impreza turbo I've got now I bought a set of the lamco gauges in white with the Subaru pod instead cos the display on them is loads easier to see and they match the original clocks too

Even if it has a connection some JDM ECU's won't read the information through some of these monitors.

The later blue VFD versions sorted out the LCD display issues and for the ECU reset alone they are worth it.

I prefer the lamcos to the psi3 and a ecu reset you can buy a obd reader for under £15 that will reset the ecu

I only paid £100 for my LAMCO's, the set in JPP only indicates voltage, temp and pressure.

I had a lovely set of original Lamcos but I sold them in the end as the boost gauge only reads to 1.1 bar

I am impressed with my Lamco's and given the choice that's what I would go for.
