Evenin' all,

Ive just bought a new Transit Custom in Panther Black, to replce my previous 07 transit that died a few weeks ago. I dont have a great history of looking after my work vans, but seeing as this is the first time ive ever gone for a new one then im gonna try my best to look after it properly and keep on top of things.

Im wondering if anyone has any recommendations on some sort of tape (like gaffer tap but better quality?) that i can put over the sill area where im going to be stepping in and out of the van several times a day and protect the paint from scratching/wearing , which will obviously be a plus point for re-sale whenever i change it. The said tape will also be used around the side door loading area and rear doors. Anybody have any suggestions on what to use? Obviously in
An ideal world it would be relatively easy to remove and clean off the stickness left behind.

Why not get it wrapped? You could use the same colour as your van so it won't look gash then

Its a big van, so it wont be cheap, and tbh im not s big fan of wrapping the whole lot, i like the nice metallic finish. It wont be looking gash, ive googled some and there are some very good options, was just wanting to know if anyone had tried and tested a certain type

 

No, not the whole van, I just meant the bits you wanted to preserve I've had a few cars with a clear protection type wrap that looked fine and kept the car looking good

There is a company in Merthyr that a few of my car dealer mates use for tinting and wrapping, they are pretty reasonable and do a decent job.
I can find out where they are for you
Second option is to buy some material such as 3M's and have a go yourself. It's not hard to do small areas as long as you panel wipe first, spray the area with warm soapy water, apply the wrap then squeegee out the excess water and finally bake it with a heat gun.
Either way it won't be expensive plus the wrap can be removed with zero damage

That'd be great, thankyou dave. Certainly worth a phonecall to get a ballpark figure, i have been thinking about some mild tinting aswell, so could kill two birds with one stone.

I'll have a look in the meantime at the 3m website, im quite a "hands on" chap so might have a go on the insides of the rear doors and see if i can get the hang of it in an inconspicuous area. Thankyou for the advise
