Bournemouth festival of running next weekend, I'm doing the 10k followed by the 5k followed by the half marathon. I thought about doing the marathon as well for all of 0.05 seconds

There is some rest, but essentially one after the other. There's no rest between the half and the marathon however.

Default What scientists work on!

Obviously body builders are stronger because of increased muscle mass. So what that average joe's muscle fibres are slightly stronger per gram

toned muscle looks infinitely better than untrained muscle

Those ratios are virtually identical. look at a cassette with 30,32 or even 34 teeth. you can build a close ratio cassette from two cassettes giving 1 step spacing from say 14t to 20t and virtually all cass jump in threes/fours upto 32t

eg 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 22 25 28 32

punch in your gear ratios into this calculator, either for speed at varying rpm, ratios etc

It will give you a better insight

How'd you fair SJ ?

im not sure how i get to go faster on run section of tri , maybe just overall fitness or muscle training or somthing else . i think its the section i need to work on / save time

The swim ,34 minutes , i could have made couple minutes maybe , lots traffic ( narrow course) almost landed a kick in the head from fat guy in front - i think this section requires bit thuggery actually

bike , i ballsed up with wrong ratios . Couldnt really do more

thanks Andy

yes the one thats on it ( 9 speed ) goes from 11-20 , there must be a jump there somewhere - must admit should looked . Bikes obviously designed tt .

saw ultegra cassette 12-27 , that would do me . Cant see me time trailing tbh .

i got two mavic cassettes with individual rings ,spacers for camp and shimano ( bought for cosmic elite wheel) dont know if these would work

Just got home, after a rather fun weekend. The scores on the doors after deciding to save myself for the half marathon were:
10k - 52m34s
5k - 24m02s
Half - 1h47m52s (new PB)

Less than ideal race prep staying in a dorm with the running club (4 hours sleep) plus a bottle of red the night before...
Great course and really nice weather. Looking forwards to doing it again next year.

Taken some pain refief, best hope it doesn't prolong as I'm hoping to tough muddering in 6 months!

Shouldn't need it for seated row. It's like rowing in a boat, no moving seat. Must be done with straight back and slow movement pulling handle towards chest. Alot of people over weight the exercise and yank at the handle

Eton Dorney - so no waves!

33 is a great time, I'm hitting about 34-35 for the 1500 (with push offs...) although I'm training to 2000 3x a week so hopefully the 1500 will seem easier in the gimp suit.
