Something doesn't sound right there. Have seen 550's do much more than that! If you work out the theoretical flow they can do more than that!
Quite possible your fuel pressure was too low. Maybe fuel pressure regulator. Theoretically with an uprated FPR set to 4bar you can drive 550's at 110% and get up to 430/440 bhp area max. Thats quite hopeful i'd say, but has been achieved.

I am running 428 bhp on standard injectors ! Maybe a little less or more Dyno dependant obviously
and yes very very close to maxing out ! But will be changing soon to 800,s

Standard injectors on mine with a ported vf43 is making a healthy 396/420 at 1.4 bar. Front mount, headers and uppipe and straight through 3" miltek. Standard engine still and touch wood it's been like it since 500 miles on the clock and now at 21k, might be a ticking time bomb but I'll enjoy it until it breaks then it'll get fixed, but until then it makes for a great road car
stick to standard headers with trick up pipe, ive lost a little spool but once its up and going you hit 445ftlb instantly, but as stated forged is ideal but if your not ragging it about you mite just be fine
