as for adding type r parts on to a p1
that tells me the r is the better car out the box

any way **** it , I'm more than happy with my r
and if I would of been this happy with my p1 I still would of had it

same goes for the wr1 I had (well I did keep it 3 years , only because I payed 19k for it ) 😳
I think you'll find there ain't much between the two as mentioned on the P1 site. Admittedly the site is only small as it caters solely for the P1 but it's not as crap as you make it out to be. Lot of useful info there if you own a P1. It can't be that bad either as you joined twice despite being banned?? Plus on your thread on the P1 site there was a good split in opinion & not everyone said the P1 is the best. Plus what do you expect if you go on a dedicated P1 site? It's like an Evo owner asking on here which is best Evo or scooby?

Fat boy mentioned he had gone for a dccd 6 speed box but not from a type-r but from a newage, which is something I'll do to mine as & when the 5 speed gives up.
You will find if anything P1 owners uprate parts with newage sti parts rather than type-r parts.
At the end of the day both cars are good in their own right & it's horses for courses. Let's see how long you keep this type r for ;-)

I've seen quite a few "Evo or Impreza" threads on here over the years. Most give quite an objective view and are quite complimentary, some a little dig at evo's. There's quite a few scoob owners that have owned both, there's a thread in the members gallery of an ex evo owner coming back to the Impreza brand.

I own a Type R. I've not driven a P1 so couldn't say which I prefer.

Am I right in thinking the P1 was ltd to 1000 and was UK only?.

Bloody hell Stu they seem a very insecure lot if you were banned for just asking a question. Anyway given what somebody else thinks you're better off away from there.

There was a lot of in-fighting among the P1 owners about 18 months ago and several owners had enough of all the name calling and sold their cars. With so many going for sale at the same time it pushed the used prices down and they have never really recovered. There are bargains to be had out there!

I loved my p1 it's probably the only car I'd buy again it's almost perfect better brakes up front but it's a brilliant out the box performance car

I remember at one point there was about 15 for sale on ebay alone.

I have a P1, but with DCCD gearbox set up, coilovers and uprated brakes with 6 pot calipers. Best fun car I have ever owned by a mile, very fast with DCCD gearing and handles like nothing else I have driven.. I have had GT4 turbos, TVRs, Jag XK8, Cosworths, Lotus.... but for me the P1 is the best.

Yes mate limited to a 1000.

The thread on p1woc was also quite objective. Either way they're both good cars & I can't see there being much between them in the real world. Plus most have been modded with coilovers, upgraded brakes, turbos, boxes etc. so there wouldn't be much in it. Obviously standard vs standard may be a slightly different story. It's tough finding a nice standard example of either nowadays.

I don't think so - I've only had one sniffy comment ever on the P1 site about my changes. In my experience there are some of either of the model type owners who enjoy keeping the cars as oem as possible and others who like modding ( and of course some who like stickers and mad mods ) and the p1 site isn't much different. They are all just subarus and are all part bin specials of one type or another in reality.

Yep P1 has ABS and ABS in theory has issues with the DCCD, but I've never experienced any problems with it on the road or on track in over 8 years (of MOTS).The ABS works and as the DCCD spends 99% of its time fully unlocked I don't think I should have an issue. I could imagine a scenario where the diffs were fully locked up and the ABS triggered and let all the brakes off, but you'd never drive anywhere than maybe up a snowy hill with full lock on.

As for stu - he's just stirring / low level trolling and that's probably why he's been banned. Given that he has claimed to have owned both models then he has no need to go on various sites asking the same question again and again in multiple threads - I don't believe the " I'm just asking for a friend" stuff. Whatever floats your boat...

Turbo freak - sounds like we have similar cars. Good choice

And this is exactly why I don't get involved in conversations on this forum.

https://www.scoobynet.com/scoobynet-...p1woc-lol.html

Thought I recognised the name, came across as a bell end back then and still come across as one now. Grow up mate. Join a forum and get involved in the club before making assumptions. Great bunch of lads and there is no bitching about any other car only when the likes of yourself come on and ask what's better than the P1.

Everyone is welcome on the P1woc but having previously been banned if you wanted to rejoin go about it the right way, contact admin and plead your original ban in a mature way.

I am not getting sucked into a driveling contest as I'm sure you would win, if you approach things in a more mature way you may get further in life.

so why sign up again to ask a question you knew would cause trouble?

as said should of just searched to find out.

have you got any friends because on the thread you said you it was a question you were asking for a MATE, from reading this thread you were just being a ****ty little 5 year old, so don't get shirty when your treated as one fella.

right then shall we have a little history lesson ?!!

at the time the p1 was the way to go because of insurance costs, servicing (at the time main dealers wouldn't even sell you a p1 (tyre r/ra) part without a vin number) let alone service your import, as said on other thread ive owned imports and my ver5 sti wagon was imported as an 22b and cost £1300 to insure were my uk wagon cost £550 before!

and was set up better for uk b roads. oh and 6 year warranty was a plus because if an type r lets go who's paying for the rebuild.

type r is maybe the one to have now as if you import from japan they don't use salt an as such don't rust, and are I much better condition

Do a search and then this is the most pointless thread ever as done to death and even then ends nowhere unless you have a specific idea to start with and end product in mind......

There are WRX type r's and ra's that don't have dccd and have abs, the STI type r's and ra's have dccd and no abs, roof flaps seem to get splattered around the later version type r's after v4 I think but then you may see them on the earlier ra's, not sure what the format is with them, i'm sure mattyb will be along and explain it to us all.

To me the Type R / P1 argument is a bit like the new age WRX / STI argument, both depend what you want from a car, the P1 much like the WRX is a less hard core version better suited to UK roads and easier to live with as a daily driver, with longer gearing and softer suspension, Type R and new age STI are more hard core and better suited to weekend / track use.

I used my Type R as a daily for about 6 months and lets just say i'm glad I had other vehicles to use because it could be a bit of a ball ache when you just want to go to the chippy for fish and chips or taking my lad to nursery, it's all a bit much.

The quick rack on the limited models makes a big difference to the feel of the car to, for that reason alone I would go for the type r

Yea spot on ditch. All STI RA's got roof flaps along with special models like the V2sti 555. Some limited/v limited models got them also.
Alot of info can be found here...

Also, there are some models that don't have either dccd or abs.

Not sti's? Surely? They would have one or the other.

Earlier wrx ra didn't have ABS or DCCD. ABS did become an option in the later cars though.
Early sti didn't have either and from memory the sti v2 didn't have either.

Exactly what I was thinking yesterday. I don't blame them for banning you to be honest as you are obviously just stirring and maybe they want to keep the site a bit more mature

How many times have we seen a "what's better, P1 or type R?" thread on here? Let's just put it to bed now, everyone knows the Type R is better

Well I've always believed that JDM / Jap models have always been the more kitted out sought-after cars to have (bit like JDM blob to UK blob ect), thats not just with Subarus but most other Jap imports in general.
