I'm not sure if the Plus gained anything extra in the handling department or whether it was some carbon/visual differences and a power/limiter increase??

We've got a standard TTRS and in my opinion, it's not in the same league as an Evo/Scoob on a decent twisty undulating back road. Smoother fast A-roads and it's a closer call though.

From a brief scout I did on t'internet a couple of years ago, it seems that a proper geometry set up will help a little, but after that the lads on the forum I was reading were talking about changes to suspension hardware.

Cheers,
Grant

What a great track car: okay it's not hardcore but with RWD, super sticky tyres and strong brakes, it really shone today at Bedford West. Then a comfy drive home (300 miles!).

I have thought about taking my 530d on an MLR sprint as I'm not really used to rear wheel drive driven in anger so it would be nice to find some limits in a safe environment. I still have a set of x22 tyres that will fit on my spare 17" wheels

It's all about the brakes and weight is suddenly much more important.

There were some very hardcore cars there; a guy in our group (I'd say early 20s) had a new Aventador; it failed the noise test do he had to rent an Atom; he was bloody quick!

Ordered an m135i on a business lease back in early June, finally arrives on Wednesday.
I just hope I find the transition from a 330 bhp blob wagon easy enough.

This is my second RWD car; you soon get used to it and then start to enjoy the extra fun RWD gives you; brilliant on track too!

At the Knockhill days I've done there has been instructors on hand to give track newbs a hand with lines and track etiquette, never done a track event at Bedford, do they not have that facility?? If not, then jumping in with a track veteran would be a good shout next time.

Cheers,
Grant

Sorry didn't realise. I've been on track a bit but am greedy for curb and tyre walls. You returned unscathed apart from centre caps and had fun, that is all that matters.

Why?!

I had an experienced instructor in the car; it was only on the timed laps that I really went for it. Well probably 90% as there's still a nagging thought that stacking the car would be a total disaster. That was my third (and 4th) lap; the last was a slow cool down to let the brakes recover.

Learned plenty but still need to sort my s bends out more (brake later, straighten the line more) and brake even later in general. By the times laps I was clipping every apex and using more of the track and was almost 10s quicker.

Is this SN at its worst again? No shared enthusiasm, just criticism? It's very sad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having a good time and full of enthusiasm for a bit of track work; it's just those lines. Those lines, Matthew!

Have you driven there? It was my third lap. The next lap was a cool down (slow) lap trying to let the camera car past. After an hours tuition I was a lot faster. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, the car was superb, we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. My lap time wasn't too bad in the end.

Having a good time should be all that matters.
And not meeting someone coming the other way, of course...

To be fair, it did look extremely quiet in that video, so meandering around wouldn't have caused a great deal of fuss... but on a busier track with 'randoms' who are (rightly or wrongly) expecting others on track to be of a certain standard, there could have been an issue; hence my advice to 'jump in and observe a veteran' or ask for instruction if it's available.

Cheers,
Grant

I'm only pulling your leg, dear. As Zip says, it's about having fun. The fact that you can't drive is besides the point.

I was under the direction of a very experienced instructor. That was an early practise lap. I can drive fine thank you. In fact I was faster than Richard Meaden in a Porsche 991 Carrera S according to Fastestlaps. (TBH something must have gone wrong on that lap).

The camera car has nice enough lines to my inexperienced eyes.

He was 1.6s faster overall - he's got a fair bit of track experience. I think people are only looking at the cool down/move over lap. The first one was okay.

I wish I hadn't posted it now.

No videos and I can barely recall my lap-times. I remember clipping the apex a couple of times, though.

Don't be mardy Matt. Your lines that can be seen before your cool down would benefit from copying the camera car, that is all I can say. I am trying to go into corners backwards but am not there yet. I keep ripping bumpers off trying though.
