Is that a cash job mate? I would try a couple of bodyshops to see if the prices are about the same. Had mine done a few years ago now for £200 cash.

That was through their books. To be honest though, I want it done properly.
If I am not happy with it and I have paid cash, I have got very little come back.

Well I spoke to him last night and i'm 50/50 whether he is going to cough up the money. I gave him the price of £280.80 all in and he seemed a bit surprised. I said to him if he can find it cheaper (as long as they are reputable company) then go ahead, but I would like to get the car sorted as soon as poss. 'It is a bit expensive', was he responce.

I did remain calm and pointed out that 'HE' hit my car which was in mint condition. All I want is for it to be put back the way it was.

He said he would pay them direct which is absolutely fine (they take credit card which I think is going to help the situation!) but I have requested that it is paid for before the work commences. I am waiting to hear back from him on that front!

We shall see. He seems like a nice lad but I can sense some reluctance setting in.

Many years ago now I stopped in traffic and an old lady behind me in a Nissan Micra didn't. She wrecked the bumper, bootlid, one set of lights and buckled the boot floor. When I asked her to pull in behind me up the road she drove into the back of me for a second time. She was very shaken up and clearly upset so I resisted going ballistic and we exchanged details. I even waited until her husband arrived in a taxi to drive the remains iof her car home. She kept apologising for damaging my car and in the end I almost felt sorry for her.

The next day her husband rang and asked if they could avoid the insurance being involved and I said I would get an estimate and send it to him which I did. It was around £1500.

I then rang them a few days later and she went mental at me down the phone basically accusing me of falsifying the estimate despite the fact I told her she could pay it direct etc. etc.

She then told me her husband had said it would be no more than £200 and if it was any more I was a liar. I gave her one more chance to STFU and then told her it would be going into the hands of the insurance! She kept going so down went the phone and to the insurance it went.

Turned out it was her fourth accident that year and they were refusing her any further insurance. Despite many phone calls from her husband asking for me to acept the payment I letf it with the insurance and it was all sorted. Did she ever get insurance again? Who knows????

Hopefully not and if it was a few years ago maybe she's not around to do any more damage

You never can tell can you!

I am trying a different route now and have asked for a quote from where I had planned to get the front end resprayed. They quoted me £360 for that so I'm thinking if I get that done at the same time as the bumper, the price should be a bit lower. Plus ill get my car finally how I want. I.E. not a mark on it!

Spoke to the lad again just now and he seems more willing to pay, especially if I can get the price down for him.

Sorted. Altered Image in Strood have agreed to do the bumper for £180 if I get the front end sprayed at the same time. Booked in for next Saturday and the lad has been over and paid his share already.

Can't ask for better than that.

Not many young lads like that round Medway anymore. Either he's actually honest or you're quite intimidating in the gym.

I have just got a quote for a blend on the rear bumper and also a complete re spray of bumper and the prices were £200 for blending then £250 for complete bumper to be done.

Mine was my own fault. I had an argument with a post. Hasn't done much damage at all. the touch was so light as I was going so slowly. never the less it has p***ed me off heaps and makes me feel bad knowing it's there so want it repaired and quickly.

Funny thing was I knew there was a post there and a car to my left. Watching those and failed to see another post, perfect bumper height and about a foot in front of the one I knew about! Right in my blind spot. Gutted!!!!

I am glad that the person came forward and owned up to you. I must admit, I didn't think it would be as much to repair as it is. Hard lesson to learn. Think because I trying so hard to not park anywhere it gonna get damaged it making me nervous to drive. Never felt like that about a car before. lol.

Good luck with the repair.
