Was a great day Those 182's go really well and with a similar power to weight ratio when mapped they're a much cheaper track option Only thing is heat in those 15's and better brakes

You booked February yet ?

What's that like to drive? When my phase 1 blows up I'll probably go for a trophy.

For track work out the box, a Clio 172 cup is the best of the bunch bar none.

ive only ever driven my 172 cup but its the lack of ABS/AC which does it for me! makes a much more enjoyable experience

Agreed!

Lots of small tweaks that make a very good track car that is easy to control at the limit. On RS trackdays I've been on I was way faster than regular 172 and 182's when mine was at its basic spec.

Lol thanks mate

Have you owned both the subaru and rs clio?

Why do you say dont do it mate?

I have been out tonight in the clio and it is so much fun, cheap to run, cheap as chips insurance etc etc, pretty quick and handles really well, it has made me think, why get rid tbh.

I just fancy a change, and some low down torque and the road presence the subaru has compared to my clio.

i currently own a 172 cup and a 2005 blobeye sti and if im 100% honest i prefer driving the clio all day long! its just soo much more fun and you can rag it to death and still get 28mpg!

its just how it feels on the road for me though, you can feel everything thats going on, feel the grip in the wheel whereas the subaru you know the grip is there you just cant feel it

The Subaru I owned was a 93 WRX so not the best model out there and quite old now.
The clio is better in almost every way.

However, the blobeye Imprezas are quite nice. I just think you'll either end up spending £££££ trying to improve performance, and £££££ on petrol and it will be no more exciting than your clio is anyway

I'm really tempted to get one of these but the reliability issues are putting me off, ok i get it that they are great fun to drive, which is something i'm after but I don't want to keep having to throw money at it because of little faults.

These are very reliable little cars, have a look on cliosport.net, mine hasnt had a single problem in the 13 month i have owned it.

It is the most reliable car i have owned, it might sound strange because its french but it is.

The renaultsport cars were made in a different factory to the normal clios iirc.

The little niggles are the origional exhaust hangers rot (few quid to fix) the steering wheel melts, not really a problem, and the big one is the cambelt change is expensive, there isnt really any other common problems on these cars.
