Thanks for all the comments guys, really appreciate it.

It is the 2nd dream car I have owned, first being a Ferrari F355.
I had always dreamed of a Ferrari since Crocket had one in Miami Vice and Magnum had one too (although it was actually Higgins that owned it lol )

I loved the car, it was the center of attention everywhere it went, but I unfortunatly wrote it off aqua-planing on the motorway in a straight line at 60mph. Although I walked away, what really scared me was the fact I had been driving around with my 5 year old in it just the day before.

The M5 is a different beast, no one notices you (except the petrol heads), it drives around town like any other 5 series. Driving it though, you feel like you are truley in a super car. It just feels like a special place to be.
It has everything BMW knows about how to keep a car on the road when the driver makes a mistake. I am an IT consultant with limited (at best) driving ability.
The M5 will allow me to explore a few more corners knowing I will still be no where near the limits of the car. The 355 was 380bhp stright to the back wheels, one mistake and see ya.......

Winter wheels coming on monday and they will be going straight on. I will use the winter months to gently explore my abilty with the car and then maybe some more fun when the summer months come.

Looks like a nice tidy example. I've been looking for something with a V8 grumble and stumbled across a few of these at some stupidly low prices

cheers get one, you wont regret it, as you said defo go for the facelift, there is a bit if a premium on them above the pre, but the pre felt really dated to me even though the changes are not major.

will be doing my best not to bin it, I have had over 70k from insurance companies over the years, so if you want to know who to blame for the high premiums........

Was it just me that thought he looked slow trying to catch up with the Cayman and the Mini? I know they were tearing past and he had some speed to make up but still didn't seem to reel them in as fast as I expected.

I was always impressed with this clip. Same engine as the M5 I assume?
