I think social networking has made a lot of forums quieter than they were say five years ago. Most car clubs are on facebook, they are quicker and easier to use on your mobile apps.

I think that is a factor, even if some people just want to moan that just SN is ****, end of.

I'm friends on FB with quite a few former regulars from here. Some still come on, but certainly not as much. I think over time, people have moved on, some because of issues with this site no doubt, some just because their online friends had, and therefore the banter lessened on here, making SN less appealing to them. I could guess (going by my friends, their friends etc.) that many have moved to the likes of FB for their collective banter and contact, even if not everyone is there, so the need to come here isn't there so much now.

I think a lot of people would agree that this site is now less cliquey than it once was accused of being, however, that in turn has meant, quieter.

I'm not saying this is the only reason SN is quieter, (although this topic keeps cropping up every so often, and thankfully for now we're still going) but I do think it is a reason.

As pointed out earlier FB is being used as much as soe of the forums I'm on
It's quick and easily logged on for a quick look at work on smartphones
Also quick for posting photos and for likening a thread
Also looking at 280 people out of 300 at the NBO most are within clubs who have their own forum fb page rather then this which is national
Sidc seem to be ticking over though as there isa lot of Scottish owners in there
Scoobynet is still good fun woth the likes of tubby to keep us amused and f1Fan who is universally hated but is good at the wind ups
Also we have the chav police and dump valve haters to keep the newbys in line who come on regular to ask the same questions

Also the heat is keeping people off the forums at the moment

If more people are being diverted to FB then that's good - it acts as a filter for the rest of us, who value privacy and trolling, and are not retarded*.

* excluding f1fan, and the guy who said people doing 75mph on a motorway were worse than burglars

I don't use FB, but I do use forums.

This forum isn't as bad as some forums that I've been on, I got banned from one forum because I went off the hallowed topic and started chatting with a fellow member about a car. I asked the webby for an off-topic section and got banned! Talk about the forum topic or nothing at all!

Yes, that's true. Even when some b1tchfights still go on here (part of the attraction for some), vulturing, lynch-mobbing and elite- ism don't seem to occur/exist here any more.
Just our Matteeboy showing off his six pack and f1 slating his opponents- that's all. I love them both.

Oh, and our Tony. He's embarrassed about everything. May it be the Olympic ceremony or shirtless chavs.

Maybe its a combination of people having a life and working, rather than sitting in front of a computer / tablet / phone etc all day writing reply after reply. I think SN is a good forum, but I (as I'm sure most others) realise there's more to life than browsing forums all day.

No doubt the recession has added to the lack of activity too I.e folk having to sell up because they can't afford the costs of subaru ownership any longer.

one reason for poor thread counts could be the amount of idiots on here who give idiotic replies to genuine queries. People see the **** responses and think why should they post and be flamed for being a noob.

The users are killing SNet, no one else.

If it wasn't for Pete, i think the place would be stagnant

Old Webby did some cracking business selling off the site! Bet he's laughing his ******* off now.
I can't help thinking that whenever anyone starts a thread like this one, what they would really like to see is the end of the forum!

Must admit I still consider myself a relative newbie (20 months) not just to the Impreza but to performance cars in general.

I have found this forum to be very helpful & insightful in terms of getting one's head around the many technical aspects.

Also I have really valued the fact my insurance has been drastically reduced due to this forum (Keith Michaels).

I have benefited from group buys & cheaper spares & love some of the diverse characters on here.

So a big thumbs up for me although I do appreciate it may not what it has possibly been in the past.
