I bought my car to have fun with and drive. i dont have it to sit in a hemetically sealed chamber and only driven when theres no rain on the road. I appreciate that keeping my car standard it wold probably be worth 3x what it is now but ive had much more fun tinkering and toying with it and i dont intend to sell it anyway - so whats the point in thinking what its worth?

The price of blobeye widetracks have gone up considerably recently. Can't find a nice one for under £10k!

I'm now bald, wear a vest and drive around the estates at 11pm. So yeah they were right.
Lord Hardons car looks like a two year old with a pack of crayons has detailed the engine bay, even he has succumbed to pointless modifications.

JDM blobs certainly, most of the UK blobs i see for sale are all under £10,000, on Pistonheads anyway, in fact Hawks seem to be on sale for more money which is strange given the engine & higher tax issues.

There's been 2 extremely tidy sidetrack sti's up my way for sale recently and both were around the 9k mark, I was tempted by both and I'm sure the latest one would be willing to do a deal on my bug.

But there's no harm if that's what they choose to do, if someone purchases a car for investment purposes then fair play, at least they can enjoy it from time to time. You don't really enjoy the money as much when it's tied up in a house, bank account, investment funds etc etc.

Each to their own I say, I'm hoping my Evo will hold its value well and that if I ever sell it I won't lose anything on what I paid, but I'm using it doing a fair few miles. I keep it minted though and keep on top of servicing, I think that's key.

"Investment purposes"
That's why the whole car thing is buggered. Everyone trying to make a million quid, forces prices up to a point where there are out of reach of the working man, the people that these cars were aimed at.

People rubbing thier grubby little hands together whilst looking at thier "investment"

Sad really

Prices for a decent type r have gone up massively over the last few years. Bought my v3 type r 5 years ago for 3k, now some people are asking 10k plus?! Don't get me wrong it's great to drive as a weekend car but I'd be a bit unsure about paying 10k for one.

Original, unmolested examples of almost anything sporty will go up in price in time as cars get scrapped and the ratio of sheds on the road to good ones increases.

or for its worth, give it a couple more years for the later classics to be going up

Where are you looking? Pistonheads and Autotrader don't show any Widetracks under £9500.

.. more like 3k accordingly to the link above. The 'WRX turbo' line will be a mixture of new and old models.

There's definitely plenty of classic turbos still registered. Anyone with any sense who owned and loved them but went onto something else back in the day bought another and kept it. Well I did, anyway.

Snap them up while they are obtainable from a cost perspective and not been eaten by the rust plague

I’m sad enough to keep track of ‘how many left’ and there are roughly 3,500 Classics with a Turbo still taxed on a regular basis and another 4,000 SORN.

I suspect a lot of the SORN ones have actually been scrapped at home and not declared.

And then I wonder how many of them are classic sti impreza imports. Probably impossible to tell due to dvla being inconsistent with classifying vehicles during registration ( ie sti marked as gl)

Yes I’d love to know how many Version 6 TYPE RA’s are left, only 2000 to start with. Lol.

Number 1557 here.

In Carlisle and Cumbria I might see 1/2 classics per week on the road mostly with rusty rear arches and these cars might last another 2/3 years to the rust means a £800-£1000 repair which will put them into the beakers category

You can see good classics advertised now for 7-10k so prices are rising steady

Don't forget there still being imported into the country. Where there all coming from I don't know. But plenty of members importing there own. Plus import companies regularly bringing them in.

I Bought my first 2004 WRX in 2013 which was modified (exhaust, induction, ecutek map, BC coilovers, 80k miles, P-WRC alloys for £3500 I drove it for 10 months and sold it for £3750

I have just recently bought another 2004 WRX which similar mods but no coilovers and map for - £5200 and that was a hard ask having only covered 80k miles again so they are definitely on the rise

Put another year on that now!!..classics getting very thin on the ground now, and,as correctly predicted earlier in thread, nice ones are going-or at least advertising for strong money, imo people are prepared to pay good money for good examples!...
I am hoping blobs go same way!,..I bought my widetrack sti in feb 09 for 12k with circa 23k miles,I was toying with idea of having a change but see some 80/90k milers are getting advertised for close to that figure now!...mines only at 60k now so il probably end up keeping in the hope the prices stay stable-or even go up a bit!...what’s other people’s opinions?
