John Howard wasn't one of those invading, destroying or subjugating though (as it is he who made the speech that has been subsequently altered to the 'famous' immigrants/Muslims speech trotted out by the deluded masses whenever something like this occurs).

In fact John Howard's and subsequent governments have done a lot to try and put right many of the wrongs suffered by the aboriginals with limited success in some areas I grant you.

This holding 'every white Australian' accountable for the plight of the aboriginals is very unfair to be frank, but then again that is the de facto standard viewpoint for many in such a situation.... it's an easy standpoint to have.... a bit like hating all the Muslims for the actions of a few nutters eh?

The supposed comments on immigration attributed to Gillard in this version were originally aimed at an American audience and were penned by Barry Loudermilk, a US Air Force veteran and columnist for a local newspaper in the American state of Georgia

 

I think you missed my point. I didn't say he was guilty or not, I simply said you could use him as an example of tainting a whole group of people woth something because of the (perceived) actions of another. I think that multi---------------culturalism!!!!!! is the pet subject of many people after yesterday.

 

How come the British as a rule get on with all the other religious and ethnic groups in the country, and, to be fair a lot of the Muslims, Jewish, Black, Chinese, Hindu, Sikh etc, we just get on with it, rarely hear of any agro, it all seems to come from the Islamic community, perhaps it is down to foreign policy, possibly a bit of feeling marginalised, whether that be through choice, actual fact or just feeling like they are.

It isn't all Muslims, I work with a Muslim guy and we have a great laugh, we are mates, a bit of banter and we talk about issues, he is appalled by stuff like this, he wells up when he talks about stuff like, he and a lot of other Muslims hate all this, they hate how their brothers behave, they just want a quiet life, bring up some kids, perhaps have a nice house and car, my mate works hard to provide for his wife and kids. He will always be a Muslim, he is proud of his religion and heritage but he isnt hard line and he doesnt ram it down anyones throat, he cant be the only one, I went to another Muslim mates wedding, I had a great time, lovely family and was made to feel very welcome and had some great food.

So, when I read the anti Muslim sentiment and the Muslim extremism, I think most of it is hatred based on some impression we have of another group, without everyone knowing anyone from the at group, the various extremist actions like this make me angry and sad, angry as it was a waste of a like, angry as it just drives the wedge further in and sad that things have just escalated, the EDL wakes up immediately and then damages a Mosque, I was expecting someone vaguely brown to be murdered.

I just think, that once people have met, they find it very difficult to hate each other, ok not everyone gets on, but mostly it is ambivalence rather than hatred, maybe a mild dislike, it is like if you had a pet Duck, Lamb, Chicken or whatever for a year or two, could you just kill it, most of us would find it difficult but we quite happily eat meat, it is like that **** in the BMW who cuts you up and you get into some argy bargy, if you met in a pub you would probably get on. Ok some of the Muslim hate preachers ans their gang are just dyed in the wool ***** who need rooting out and sticking in prison, they only exist to justify their own existence, it is there job, they get scared if they cant generate chaos and disharmony.

I am anti religion, I hope it all dies out, Christianity is dying out, it is an anathema but Islam isnt, it is too entrenched, to much part of the culture and there is a lot of fear involved, the society is too patriarchal, women dont get a say, they just get dragged along dressed in a Burkha, they are definitely gentler and in our society they have a lot more say, Muslim society is very male oriented.

I dont know the answer, British people are getting more and more anti Muslim which is a shame but a certain section of the Muslim community is bringing it on themselves, they live here, they need to integrate, I can see why there are so many "British and Proud" things on Facebook but I don't think it is healthy, there seems to be a vein of British Extremism and it is rising, I think UKIP will flourish as they have pitched themselves as kind of a BNP lite, like the BNP but with all traces of Jack Boots, Zeig Heiling and Skinheadery removed.

The black guy who committed the murder was going on about foreign policy, maybe we do need to just get out of Islamic countries ? leave them too it, not so sure this kind of stuff will stop though, there will always be deluded, brainwashed nutters, I suspect these guys were probably told to do this, or someone else put the idea in their heads, those are the people that need finding and getting rid of.

I don't quite get why you would say that ^^ the guy is putting across some very valid points, like it or not what he is saying is a very real view point of the attackers, rightly or wrongly.

Ultimately these people need to be engaged if there is to be a solution to their grievances, what he is saying about there being lots of rhetoric from the various leaders on either side is very true, when in actual fact something needs to be done, so as to not see a repeat of such an incident, because this is the "New" direction things will go in if the powers that be are not seen to be taking constructive action.

The perpertrators of this crime were not afraid to die and there are many more like them who will now see this as a way forward to strike fear into the hearts and minds of the british public, as these two did they can just pop up anywhere and cause mayhem, this in my eyes IS a very serious developement in the tactics of these extreemist types, and I hate to say it but it may well not be the last time we see this sort of attack given the media feeding frenzy that is taking place, they have achieved exactly what they set out to do, cause outrage and get themselves and their cause firmly in the spotlight.

I think some of the people on this thread need to step back and take a clear look at the situation that is developing before our eyes as opposed to just screaming at the TV.

What i want to know is what will be done about this to ensure it does not happen again, and I for one don't want to see yet greater "knee jerk" restrictions to our freedom as a solution or greater persecution of minority communities, as that will only lead to further resentment and escalate the the situation.

I despair.
